The Aeolian Trip event is only two weeks away. For impatient travelers, it's time for a bit of history !

It was here, according to the legends of Greek mythology, that the god of the winds, Eol, had his headquarters and, by command of Zeus, managed the winds there. Legend has it that Aeol trapped the winds against Odysseus so that he could return home peacefully after his victory at Troy.
With a gentle westerly wind, Odysseus' ship sailed peacefully toward Ithaca. And everything could have been fine, provided that the rest of the winds were enclosed in a sack for the rest of the journey. However, Odysseus' companions disobeyed this recommendation and, seeing the land of Ithaca and curious to see what was inside, let all the winds out.
These turned Odysseus' ship back to the Aeolian Islands. Aeolus, however, refused to put the winds back into the sack... And while this may be just a legend, it is indeed the case that the first to settle on these islands in the 4th century BC were the Greeks.
